The collaboration plans to introduce Watch Advisor in early 2027 alongside tutor-led exchanges.

The announcement

GIA and the Fondation Haute Horlogerie announced an educational collaboration on 17 September 2026. Starting in early 2027, GIA plans to offer FHH Academy’s entry-level Watch Advisor certification through its campus network, with open sessions supported by a tutor. An initial joint initiative is planned for October 2026, with details to follow.

JEWEL DAILY perspective

JEWEL DAILY sees an opportunity to connect jewellery professionals’ material knowledge with watches’ mechanics, culture and service. In a shared retail setting, explaining how an object works is more useful than memorising references. Introductory knowledge certification is different from watch-repair training, however. Programme content, locations and fees need confirmation in subsequent announcements; the partnership does not mean every campus has already started teaching it.
