De Beers and Botswana extend Tebogo partnership towards LA28

The announcement
De Beers Group announced an expanded partnership with Botswana’s government and Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo on 8 October 2026. The three-year programme centres on The Road to LA28, following his preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and linking natural diamonds with education, communities and opportunity. It extends an existing global-ambassador relationship.
JEWEL DAILY perspective
JEWEL DAILY reads this as a move from gem specifications towards people and origin stories in natural-diamond communication. An athlete provides a continuing narrative, but public influence and industry performance remain different forms of evidence. Specific projects, beneficiaries and published outcomes will be useful things to follow. A campaign’s development story should not be treated as sustainability certification for every diamond.
