MITUBACI Kyoto brings wedding-ring making into a machiya

An official report published on 24 October introduces the workshop opened on 1 September, where participants stamp, bend and polish jewellery with a craftsperson.

From Tokyo to Kyoto

Fujimori’s 24 October announcement introduces MITUBACI Kyoto, opened near Shijo Station on 1 September 2026. Founded in Tokyo’s Sangenjaya in 1970, the company began customer-and-craftsperson jewellery workshops in 2019. This is an expansion of the workshop experience: the announcement date is not the opening date, and the pictured rings are not all new releases that day.

Choices visible on the surface

The official photograph identifies two 18K gold rings with different surface rhythms: finer reflections on one, more pronounced facets on the other. For JEWEL DAILY, that contrast moves a discussion of “handmade” towards visible texture and touch. The photograph alone does not establish every production step.

Making with a craftsperson

The brand says participants can try stamping, bending and polishing with professional support. The photographs show instruction and two participants working with tools. Workshops accommodate at most two groups at once, leaving room for explanation and adjustment. The time spent making together forms part of the value the brand describes.

A workbench inside a machiya

The workshop occupies a renovated Kyoto machiya, retaining timber and shoji screens while adding benches and tools. The interior photograph centres on the workbench. In our reading, making becomes the focus of the visit, extending the retail experience beyond choosing a finished object from a display.

Set stones and the retail model

An additional public gallery photograph shows four stone-set rings alongside the plain gold bands in the article. The brand says pieces with diamonds or birthstones can generally also be taken home the same day; designs, appointments and conditions require confirmation with the workshop. This combines material choice, participation in craft and travel memories, without providing evidence of sales performance.

「MITUBACI Kyoto」
