Separating software development from production decisions clarifies what the announcement establishes.
Reported facts
In its 7 September 2026 announcement, Sarine says MVP uses algorithms and cloud computing to generate and assess millions of diamond planning options, while AI supports algorithm enhancement and exploration. The company dates MVP’s launch to 2024. This is a development update, not a product debut or evidence that a generative model directly makes production decisions.
JEWEL DAILY perspective
Our interpretation is that manufacturers should first record where AI enters a workflow: helping write code, proposing parameters or selecting a final production plan. Each role requires different validation. Faster software iteration does not, on its own, establish a higher finished value for an individual rough diamond.
When evaluating planning tools, a buyer could request comparisons using the same rough stones and constraints, retaining plan versions and human changes. We would prioritise reproducible comparisons and exception handling over the number of candidate options. Output, time and correction costs should be measured separately in actual production.
